Pittsfield Self Storage
This project involved the subdivision of a 14-acre parcel of land into two commercial lots and the construction of a new self-storage facility on one of the lots. Northpoint performed the site design for the self-storage facility and secured approvals from the Pittsfield Planning Board for both a Subdivision application and a Site Plan application.
The proposed site improvements included 40,450 square-feet of self storage units contained within seven total buildings and related paved parking areas and drive aisles. The site design for the project included: grading and drainage design, landscape design, utility design, erosion control design, septic systems design and a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
There were extensive wetlands on the subject property that made the design of the storm water management system challenging. The drainage design included curbed drives with catch basins and a closed drainage system. An above-ground detention basin was designed to handle storm water runoff from the site improvements.
